What we collect and how we use it

Last updated: August 2026

Who runs SmokyVows

SmokyVows is operated by Pope Ventures. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Pope Ventures.

What we collect

  • Email address (required for sign in)
  • Couples: partner names, wedding date, area, guest count, budget
  • Vendors: business name, category, areas served, photos, package details
  • Messages and inquiries you send through the platform
  • Where a vendor application came from, when an ad or a link carried that with it
  • Anonymous search and click logs used to improve search relevance, not tied to your account

We never sell your data

Your data is not sold, rented, or licensed to third parties. We do not show ads on SmokyVows.

Payment data is handled by Stripe

When a vendor pays their SmokyVows subscription, payment information (card number, billing address, and so on) is collected by Stripe, not by SmokyVows. We never see or store card details. Where a vendor has connected a Stripe payout account and a couple pays for a package here, Stripe handles that payment too and settles it to the vendor’s own Stripe account. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to all of that payment processing.

Email

We use Resend to send transactional email (sign in verification codes, password resets, new inquiry notifications, booking confirmations, review requests). We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

AI features

When you use the AI wedding assistant or AI reply drafting, your message and relevant context (your wedding date, area, saved vendors) is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Anthropic processes the request and does not retain your messages for training. See Anthropic’s privacy policy for details.

Photos

Vendor and real-wedding photos are uploaded to Cloudinary. They are accessible by direct URL once uploaded. Don’t upload photos you don’t want public.

Cookies and advertising

We use an httpOnly session cookie for sign in. We do not use third-party analytics cookies. We do run advertising on Facebook and Instagram, and while a campaign is running the Meta pixel loads on the site and sets Meta’s own cookies, so that we can tell whether an ad brought someone here. While a campaign is running, a vendor who creates a vendor account also has a one-way hash of their email address sent to Meta, along with the IP address and browser the form was sent from, for the same purpose. Meta’s privacy policy applies to what it collects.

Account deletion

To delete your account and all associated data, email support@smokeyvows.com from the address on your account. We delete account data within 30 days. Reviews you’ve left may be anonymized rather than removed to preserve vendor history.

Children

SmokyVows is not directed to people under 18. We don’t knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be posted here and announced by email to active accounts.
